Moving day...Take2

Today we move our daughter out to her college living quarters. This is year number 5 for her, so it shouldn't be as sad, however, I do like everyone being home. Moving her back out is only a reminder that eventually they will all leave the nest for good. As much as that makes me proud of them it's still a bit surreal for me....

On another note...Once we got the boys moved into their respective living quarters, my older son came back home with us! He's in the process of buying his first brand new car, very exciting! He's worked very hard and saved for a long time to be able to do this! So we still have him home for a couple more days anyway.

Once the older kids are all settled we'll be able to start focusing on our school year with the 2 little ones...

Moving Day....

A lot of mixed emotions today. We're moving the two older boys out to college. They both are going to the same college so that makes things a bit easier, and it is only about 2 hours away. It's still somewhat surreal that none of the older kids will be living at home full time this year. It will be so quiet...maybe not.

Right now it looks like a tornado hit the inside of the house with the hustle and bustle of getting the boys things ready to move out to the vehicles...clearly I'm not helping with this part since I'm here writing. Picture a slight smirk on my face at the thought of that. But alas the work will really begin when we get to their respective living quarters for the school year. Undoubtedly there will be a lot of traipsing up and down stairs with full boxes. I will chalk it up to my exercise workout for the day.

Tonight the feeling in the house may be somewhat forlorn without them here....

Blog #1~For lack of a better name.

Well here we go...my very first post as a new blogger. How exciting! I will try to entertain as well as inform in the future, but for now I think I will just try to get the hang of writing a blog.

I should start by introducing myself. Rik, or simply the Queen of Chaos, since chance changes at any given point in my day are inevitable, yet normally prove to be educational on some level.

I am a wife, mom of 6, 1 of which is married with a beautiful daughter of her own, 3 of which I'm proud to say are college students, and the youngest 2 bare with me through our homeschooling adventure.
The extra additions to our household include 2 dogs and 3 cats which add to the truth in the statement, "Never a dull moment".

My passions are my family, photography, traveling, camping, reading (whenever I have the time to read a big-girl book), and cooking (especially when someone else cleans up).

As far as our home school methods are concerned, we lean toward the Classical Education method with room for diversity mixed in.

Let this new chapter in my journey begin......
